Reflection of a Man…

Retail giant Stanley Marcus, of the famed Nieman Marcus, had a passion for photography. A few years before his passing he gifted his grandaughter, acclaimed Dallas photographer Allison V. Smith with nearly 5,000 meticulously archived slides of photography taken over the years.

This year Allison, along with her mother Jerrie Marcus Smith, are sharing that gift in the form of a new photography book entitled, Reflection of a Man: The Photographs of Stanley Marcus.

I popped over to The Barry Whistler Gallery the other day and Barry let me thumb through his copy. From someone who designs and publishes books, I give this a big thumbs up. The pacing of the book is nice, layout is solid, beautiful color, and at $60 its a steal when it comes to coffee table books.

Currently the book is only available for purchase at Nieman Marcus, and it will be in wide release in January.

Allison and Jerrie will be on hand at Nieman Marcus to sign copies of the book in Dallas at Northpark on Oct. 18 (1-5 PM) and at the downtown location the following day from 2-4PM.
