    Crime can happen anywhere at any time. Most of it happens at night, and I imagine a lot in urban areas. Is Dallas worse than anywhere else? Some lists of dangerous cities suggest it is, but I don’t think so. Like anyplace, you’re safer if you don’t typically walk around alone at night or visit the skankiest of neighborhoods after dark.

    Ask yourself why you’re moving here. If it’s for a job, or to be closer to a loved one, fine. If it’s purely for the sake of Dallas, I’d keep looking.

    I’ve lived in many cities and while Dallas does rank highly in crime, I’ve never felt a fear for my personal safety. I don’t know if you’ve lived in a major urban area before, but Dallas isn’t that bad on a daily basis. You have to be careful about certain areas as you would any city but that’s just common sense.
