Power To The People Again
New zoning unanimously approved for entire length of West Commerce/Fort Worth Avenue
The Dallas City Council yesterday unanimously approved a completely new set of zoning rules for the 3.5-mile-long corridor of West Commerce/Fort Worth Avenue – – from the Trinity River to Pinnacle Park.
This vote represents the culmination of four years of grass-roots efforts by the Fort Worth Avenue Development Group to design and implement a citizen- driven plan for the boulevard.
The council’s vote comes as more businesses head to Fort Worth Avenue. Yesterday, we also learned that groundbreaking will take place in three weeks on a $2.5 million conference center/meeting space, to be located just west of Sylvan and Fort Worth Avenue. The conference center is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
Preliminary reports that investors could soon be moving forward to locate a gourmet sandwich shop, an upscale, full-service car wash, and a picture-framing operation along West Commerce/Fort Worth Avenue
