The Road Goes On Forever

I know our fellow blogger Mike will be glad to know that Robert Earl Keen is playing tonight at 7:30 at Bass Hall. He’s got two new live discs coming out and is touring in support.

If you like Townes Van Zandt, Jerry Jeff Walker or Guy Clark, you’ll want to catch this one.

I saw this same show a year ago at the Bass, and was floored. After several years of enduring rowdy high school kids throwing beer cans and screaming “Copenhagen!”, I’d sworn off Bob Keen’s concerts… but this was a treat. The crowd was maybe a little too calm, but it meant we got to actually enjoy the phenomenal acoustics. Bob Keen is a consummate professional and he’s backed by some of the best musicians in the genre (Rich Brotherton! Love you! Mean it! Call me!), so tonight’s show will be a treat if you can get in.

I’m starting to think REK only comes to Dallas/Fort Worth when I’m out of town.
