Dave Kinsey at Art Prostitue

Whew, It’s been a busy one for the past few months for me…enough so that I haven’t posted in enough time that I fell off the list-o-authors. Shouldn’t happen again since now Art Prostitute has officially moved in and is open for business. Dave Kinsey was in town last weekend, and he really put up quite a show. All was so quiet while the show was slowly being secured to the walls, but that all changed as our doors opened last Saturday for the grand opening. Soon the music was bumping and 600 people shouldered their way in to check it out.

It is amazing how much support we feel from all the Dallas-ites. Thanks to all who were able to make it out. We really are glad to be here in Deep Ellum. This side of town is such a great place to be, and all that bad press that looms over here is a breath away from being blown away. Check out what some other bloggers had to say about the opening:

Also, come out TOMORROW NIGHT (Thurs 08 Jun 2006) for the FOUND Magazine Cavalcade of Thrills Tour. It’s stopping by our new space for their Dallas tour date. (Yes, already we got another event…that’s how we roll at the Art Prostitute…any of you that made it up to Denton knows.) For those of you that don’t know about FOUND Magazine, check out their website, or listen to Davy Rothbart on NPR tomorrow at noon and he’ll tell you all about it. Doors open at 7:00 pm, and the show starts at 8:00pm. There is a $5 cover, and he will be bringing all his issues of FOUND, including his new book.

The Dave Kinsey Exhibition will continue to be on display through July 16th, so while you are bringing all your FOUND finds tomorrow you’ll be able to get another peep of the show. If you can’t make it out tomorrow, Art Prostitute is open Tues-Sat, from 12:00pm – 7:00pm. Oh yeah…and we are located at 2919-C Commerce in Deep Ellum. Other than tomorrow night, the galley is always free.
