Pimp My Ride

Only Los Angeles can rival Dallas for its love of flashy cars. Maybe it’s all the driving we do in the metroplex, but we love our cars.

Even if your car is a beater, who doesn’t hate getting flyers on their windshield? It’s basically someone sticking trash on your car. It’s not something you want, and now you’re responsible for disposing of it properly. You always see tons of flyers littering the ground. People who dump flyers on your car are basically the spammers with paper. Worse than spammers – they leave actual trash behind.

Today when I left work I found a very pricey piece of marketing material on my car. It’s a 8 inch x 8 inch multipage brochure for printed on card stock for this joint. That’s not a cheap piece of spam – I was shocked that they’d waste it on 500 random cars in the lot.

Then I noticed that they had only put flyers on brand new cars or luxury cars. That’s when I laughed myself silly – Might I suggest that if you’re in the market for a new crib, you pass on the places that litter all over the city.

But it did drive home the point, in Dallas you are what you drive.

Haha. I’ve never had that problem…but then again, my car is (was…it broke down 2 days ago…) a P.O.S…

Hehe… I would have loved to be in the meeting with the guys who were assigned the task of dropping the fliers on the “right” cars.

Flier Poster #1: “So if I see an 1999 Audi should I drop the flier on the car?”

Manager: “It would depend on on the class. Now if you have a ’99 A4 I would pass unless it was the Quattro version. If it was a ’98 A8 in perfect shape go ahead and drop the piece.”

Flier Poster #2: “What if it is a 2000 325i?”

Manager: “I would pass that one, but I would drop it on a 2000 M3”

Flier Poster #3: “I thought the M3 came out in 2002, not 2000.”

    Manager: “Um…”

This is a great post Christine. The comments are even funnier. I can’t say that I’ve noticed certain flyers on cars. Now, I’m going to be conscience of it I guess. LOL

So, are you goint to be moving to “The Cliffs”??? LOL

You are so right about cars in Dallas being a status symbol. One time, my car was dirty and someone wrote “wash me” on door in the dust.

So, my dirty car annoyed someone so much in Dallas, they had to touch it?

One minor nit-picky thing, you’re only helping the littering spammers by putting their link up.

    These comments are a riot.

Incognato – I thought twice about the link, but I don’t think all publicity is good publicity. I’d love it if they checked their referrers and saw my post and y’alls comments.

If I’d have thought of it, I’d have moved all the flyers to beater cars.
