The countdown has begun…Ikea, Frisco. The Ikea-Powers-That-Be have released the official date that cheap furniture bedlam will commence: August 3rd. They are hiring 400 people to provide crowd control staff the store.
The store is said to have four complete model homes, more demo rooms than you can possibly want to walk through, and a Swedish restaurant - because the Swedes are known for their cuisine.

I never knew how spoiled that I was to live in a city with an Ikea until AFTER I graduated from college. It is a cruel twist of fate that the only time (until August 3rd!) that I lived near this wonderful store was during the four year period where Rubbermaid containers constituted my idea of end tables.
I am also impatiently waiting on the Aug. 3rd opening of Ikea. I was a loyal customer when my son lived in Chicago but now he lives in Denver and no Ikea. Forget where I live, Oklahoma and Ikea just does not compute. I am taking a vacation the week of the opening and plan to be in Ikea heaven.
According to an article in the Dallas Business Journal, Ikea is already looking at putting a second store in Arlington.
