Has anybody had any problems with the recent transfer from Lone Star Gas to Atmos energy?

I was surprised when I got a bill I didn’t recognize, but I looked it up on line, and saw that they had purchased TXU gas, so I paid the bill. That’s the last I heard about it!

Yes, I have had a problem with the Atmos switchover. I started gas service at my new house in Sept. My first bill included the deposit, which I was aware of. Then the next two bill, they started crediting that deposit back to me. I didn’t think much of it other than I knew at some point I was supposed to get that deposit back anyway. Well, on my forth bill, they rebilled for the deposit. Seems that when they switched computer systems in the fall, they credited my deposit to my account rather than keeping it. Ok, I understand they made a mistake and I understand they need that deposit back. However, they ask for it back just when I’m getting socked with the highest gas bill I’ve ever seen. And this is while trying to keep a pretty small house at around 68 to 70 degrees. So, I told them I couldn’t come up with the full amount of the deposit, but was willing to divide it up over 3 months. I talked to one helpful fellow who said they didn’t normally do that, but he would send in the request and suggested that I call back in three days because there was no guarantee that anyone would get back to me on the issue. Well, I called back after three days and the request was still pending. I asked if I needed to keep calling about it and the person I talked to said that special billing requests normally take 2 weeks or more. They suggested that I do a payment plan, but that there would be a surcharge. I explained that I was not going to pay for their mistake and asked if there was anyone else I could talk to. Of course there wasn’t. Then they said my only other option was to pay the bill in full, which I can’t. I told her if I could, we wouldn’t be having this conversation. I felt like I was going in circles with this person. I also feel like my nuts are in a bit of a vise because I can’t just take my business elsewhere. Personally, I’m a very unhappy customer.

i’m typing one handed because i’m sitting here on hold – so far 30 minutes – trying to get thru to tell them that my gas bill is not overdue because i used their online bill pay mechanism to pay it and somehow it never got processed. so now they want to cut off my gas, ruin my credit and charge me god knows how much to reconnect if they cut me off. it’s twenty past eight in the evening on a friday so no doubt it will be india or someone i end up talking to getting nothing achieved like clay before me. i spoke to them about 18 days ago and was assured that the problem was being taken care of. apparently it isn’t. corporate america in action. ain’t it grand. no doubt bush will be spouting next tuesday or whenever about how great the economy is and how well things are going. i wonder how much money atmos gave him so that they could screw the rest of us in this and similar ways with impunity.
twenty seven minutes past eight. still waiting listening to crap country music and being told lots of stuff i couldn’t care less about.
