Ole Anti-Christ

The New Yorker has a great article about Ole Anthony, the fascinating and cantankerous founder of the Trinity Foundation in East Dallas. Trinity is a religious community founded on the principles of early Christian communities. So, no dogma, no cathedrals, no pleas for the collection plate. Just communal meals, bible study, help for the poor and addicted, and an amusing and occasionally disconcerting battle against televangelism.

“You don’t come here because you choose to,” Anthony said. “You come here because you’re desperate.” Yet East Dallas does offer Trinity one distinct advantage: proximity to its targets. Over the past fifteen years, Anthony has waged a guerrilla war against televangelism

I love the Trinity Broadcast HQ. Especially at Christmas time when they have the light up “Happy Birthday Jesus” sign. Bling Bling.

Anybody who exposes Benny Hinn for a fraud is ok in my book.

Is this true of East Dallas?: “You don’t come here because you choose to,” Anthony said. “You come here because you’re desperate.”
